Joyce Ashietey has been my constant companion and main coordinator whilst here. This also includes planning my weekends and accompanying me, which I was pleasantly surprised by! I’m slowly working through my Bradt Ghana Guide (highly recommended) to find out where I’d like to visit whilst here. With Joyce’s guidance and others I met along the way, my weekends are mapped out for me, which is great to have insider knowledge of what to do and where to go. First weekend – Wedding #1 and the University of Ghana, Accra: During the first few days in my base office with the NPD and process development ladies Jackie, Eunice and Joyce, I was delighted to be invited to the wedding of two Blue Skies employees, despite not having met them before. This took me by surprise as my suitcase wasn’t equipped for formal occasions. Nevertheless, Jackie (NPD manager) kindly took pity on me and helped fashion together something presentable and got me some jewellery to spruce me up a bit (I had packed preparing for only farm visits and dirty work, not prestigious ceremonies).
